An explosion rocked the Balzi Rossi restaurant on Kudrinskaya Square in Moscow, located on the ground floor of a residential high-rise building. The incident occurred on August 1 during a private banquet.

According to Kommersant, an improvised explosive device packed with metal balls was detonated at the entrance. The blast killed 3 people and injured 21 others.

The event was a 55th birthday celebration and new appointment party for General Alexander Chaiko, commander of Russia's Aerospace Forces. Attendees included FSB officers, Defense Ministry generals, deputies, and other officials.

Preliminary reports suggest an unknown woman attempted to bring a box into the venue, claiming it was a gift, but security refused entry. The bomb was then remotely detonated. Among the dead were two security guards and one guest.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code (terrorist act). Law enforcement cordoned off the area, and the city's planned Night Cycling Festival was postponed to a later date.
