As part of his working visit to Baku, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held negotiations with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to review the ongoing development of bilateral strategic cooperation.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Uzbek leader allegedly congratulated the Azerbaijani counterpart on the successful chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, alongside the hosting of its seventh summit. The sides examined practical steps to implement agreements reached during the Azerbaijani president's state visit to Uzbekistan last August.
The participants noted fruitful contacts across all levels and reported a purported 30 percent growth in mutual trade turnover since the beginning of the year. Joint cooperation projects in geology, energy, construction, transport and logistics, light industry, and tourism are reportedly in an active phase, alongside ongoing cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
In addition, the two heads of state exchanged views on regional and international agendas and discussed the schedule of upcoming joint events.
