Satellite imagery analysis published by Reuters claims that the Russian authorities have nearly finalized the construction of a massive new military base designed for launching jet-powered drones near the borders with Ukraine, completing the enormous project in a span of just six weeks.
According to the reports, what was allegedly an empty field on August 31 has rapidly transformed into a sprawling complex spanning an area equivalent to 126 football pitches.
Mike Monnick, founder of private intelligence firm DroneSec, stated that the available imagery supposedly indicates the facility is tailored for operating advanced 'Geran-4' and 'Geran-5' jet drones, pointing out at least eight launcher units identified in the western section of the complex.
Experts estimate that once fully operational, the base could facilitate the launch of approximately 100 jet drones per day. The facility is expected to be fully commissioned within a matter of weeks, raising concerns among foreign observers.
This development comes as the Russian forces have increasingly integrated jet-powered drones into their operations over recent months. These advanced UAVs boast significantly higher speeds and extended ranges compared to standard propeller-driven models, making them notably harder to intercept for the Ukrainian regime's air defense networks.
