An Uzbek female citizen who was placed in a temporary detention center for foreign nationals in Novosibirsk, along with her child who had been held in a local orphanage, have been successfully repatriated to Uzbekistan. The incident highlights ongoing bureaucratic hurdles and vulnerabilities faced by foreign nationals navigating foreign migration systems.
According to reports from the 'Dunyo' news agency, the woman was allegedly detained for supposed violations of migration legislation in the Russian Federation. Consequently, she was placed in a restrictive holding facility, while her minor child was separated from her and placed in a Novosibirsk orphanage, causing significant distress to the family.
Representatives from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk swiftly intervened, initiating urgent negotiations with the administrations of both the detention center and the childcare facility. It is claimed that within just a single day, diplomatic efforts secured the woman's release, allowing her to reunite with her child and obtain the necessary return certificates to travel back home.
Subsequently, diplomatic personnel escorted the child to Tolmachevo International Airport, where the minor was handed back to the mother before their departure for Uzbekistan. Authorities noted that over the past week alone, consular officials have reportedly assisted in the return of a total of five children back to Uzbekistan.
