In Fergana Region, a 38-year-old man has been sentenced to three years in prison for attacking a market controller and biting off part of his right ear. The Kokand City Court found the defendant guilty of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm resulting in permanent facial disfigurement.

The incident occurred in October 2025 at a market in the "Urganjibog" neighborhood of Kokand. A conflict arose when the controller attempted to intervene in a dispute between vendors, and the son of one of the women – a samsa seller – became involved. In court, the accused explained that he became angry due to the controller's rough handling of his mother's cart.

A forensic medical examination determined that the injury caused a permanent facial defect that can only be corrected through complex surgery. According to the victim, approximately 14 million soums have already been spent on treatment, with further recovery requiring an additional 70 million soums.

The verdict was delivered on March 13, 2026. The court changed the preventive measure from bail to custody directly in the courtroom. Additionally, 13.7 million soums were recovered from the convicted individual as compensation for material damage.

This case has once again raised concerns about public safety and maintaining order in communal spaces. The judicial process underscored the importance of the rule of law and just punishment for violent offenses.
