In a ceremony at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Tashkent, the legendary leader of the Yalla ensemble, People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Farrukh Zakirov, was awarded the state decoration of the Republic of Kazakhstan — the Dostyk Order of II Degree. The award was presented by Ambassador Beibut Atamkulov.

Speaking at the ceremony, Zakirov emphasized that he perceives the award not only as personal recognition but primarily as a sign of respect for the entire people of Uzbekistan and as evidence of the special importance placed on the development of cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries.

“I am very proud to receive this award. First of all, I consider it a tribute of respect and gratitude to my people,” the artist said. According to him, the award not only sums up the work done but also sets a direction for the future.

“I am proud to have contributed to strengthening our fraternal ties. And with special pride and inspiration, I will continue this mission,” he added. Zakirov expressed confidence that culture will continue to serve as a reliable bridge bringing peoples closer and strengthening cooperation.

Earlier, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted Zakirov’s contribution to cultural development and interstate ties. In a congratulatory telegram, he emphasized that the artist’s art has united people of different generations and nations for many years, and that in Kazakhstan he is valued for his unique voice and famous songs performed by the legendary Yalla ensemble.

This year, the Yalla ensemble celebrates its 55th anniversary, and Zakirov has announced a major international tour. He said the route has already been formed, and it is symbolic that the tour is planned to start in Kazakhstan as a symbol of brotherhood. The team considers starting performances in Almaty a logical continuation of long-standing cultural ties.

Zakirov, who is a People’s Artist of both Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, added that he has always worn these titles with pride, and now also the order. Concluding his speech, he noted that he considers his creative work part of a broader mission — strengthening friendship between peoples, emphasizing that the main thing is that peoples should always be friends.
