Social media in Uzbekistan has been flooded with claims that the cost of a permit for car window tinting has dropped to 412,000 som. The Road Safety Service (RSS) has officially denied these reports, calling them false.

In a video statement, the RSS emphasized that the procedure and cost for obtaining the permit remain unchanged. The alleged reduction to 1 BRV (basic calculation value) is a hoax.

According to the RSS, the rules are governed by a Cabinet of Ministers resolution from July 17, 2018. The cost for tinting front side windows is set at 8 BRV, which currently equals 3.2 million som. Tinting rear side windows still does not require a permit.

The service urged citizens not to trust dubious social media channels, to verify information from official sources, and to avoid spreading false information that could mislead other road users.
