The Tashkent city administration has announced a project to build new streets, parks, and recreational areas in several districts of the capital. The project, scheduled for 2024-2026, includes the construction of over 15 new parks, repair of more than 50 km of roads, and installation of over 100 streetlights.
The deputy mayor stated: "This project aims to make Tashkent a greener and more comfortable city. We aim to create favorable conditions for residents' recreation and mobility." The state budget has allocated 500 billion soums for the project.
However, some experts are skeptical about the project's effectiveness. They note that previous similar projects often were not completed on time, and there have been cases of misappropriation of budget funds. Concerns have also been raised about potential negative environmental impacts.
Tashkent residents have mixed reactions to the project. While some support the construction of new parks and roads, others argue that the funds should be directed to social sectors such as education and healthcare. Public discussions on the project are ongoing.
