According to the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment, a total of 198 work-related accidents occurred in Uzbekistan during the first quarter of 2026.

Of these, 9 were group accidents, 139 resulted in severe consequences, and 49 were fatal. The total number of injured individuals reached 223, including 146 with severe injuries, 15 with minor injuries, and 62 fatalities.

Regionally, the highest number of accidents was recorded in Tashkent city (44) and Surxondaryo region (36). Tashkent region saw 29 cases, while Navoi region reported 18. The lowest figures were in Xorazm and Jizzakh regions, with 5 each.

By sector, the majority of accidents occurred in industry (71) and construction (54). Other cases were recorded in agriculture and water management (9), transport (8), trade and services (8), healthcare (4), and education (6).

For context, in 2025, Uzbekistan recorded 849 workplace accidents, resulting in 248 deaths and 680 severe injuries. Criminal proceedings were initiated against 432 officials. The construction sector and Tashkent city led in accident numbers.
