In the Boysun district of Surkhandarya region, on April 23, heavy rainfall caused 1.2 tons of oil-containing liquid to leak into the Surkhandarya River, according to the Environmental Committee.

The leak occurred at a well of the joint venture Surxan Gas Chemical Operating Company. To prevent contamination, 11 ditches had been dug earlier using specialized equipment from Eriell Oilfield Services Middle East DMCC.

The compensation for damage, calculated according to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 202, exceeded 8.5 billion soums. Authorities report that the consequences have been eliminated and the water has been cleaned. Inspection materials will be handed over to law enforcement agencies.
