President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during his trip to the Fergana region, familiarized himself with the activities of the Neftchi children's football academy, established in 2025. The region, with a rich history of victories, is becoming a base for training a new generation of players.
The Fergana football school is rightfully considered one of the strongest in the country. Founded in 1962, Neftchi is a six-time champion of Uzbekistan and two-time winner of the national cup. On the international stage, the team also left a significant mark, reaching the CIS Cup final and winning bronze medals in the Asian Champions League in the mid-1990s.
The modern academy, designed to continue these glorious traditions, covers over 4.5 hectares. The infrastructure includes 6 fields, a modern medical center, and an indoor arena worth over $1.1 million. UEFA instructors and foreign specialists have been involved to implement European training standards.
During the inspection of the arena, the head of state spoke with young athletes. The president stepped onto the artificial turf and kicked a ball with the academy students, after which he observed their main training session.
In a conversation with the youth, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that such centers should become a 'social elevator' for talented children from all districts of the region, ensuring the continuity of the legendary club's achievements.
