A high-profile incident in the city of Akhangaran, where a patrol officer was accused of abducting and harassing two 14-year-old girls, has taken an unexpected turn. While the Ministry of Internal Affairs initially confirmed the officer's identity and his suspension from duty, the regional police department of Tashkent region has issued a statement that fundamentally changes the narrative.
According to the regional department, the abduction allegations were not substantiated. The incident allegedly stemmed from a domestic conflict, and the minor entered the vehicle voluntarily along with her older friend.
The victims' account stated that on the night of April 27-28, two girls born in 2011 were sitting on a bench near their home when a man in uniform driving a Spark car ordered them to get in. The girls complied, believing that a police officer would not harm them. However, instead of taking them to a police station, the officer drove them outside the city to a remote area behind a cement plant, where he allegedly began to harass them.
The situation was defused when one of the girls secretly sent her location to her brother. Relatives and friends quickly arrived at the scene and found the car. The officer locked the doors and attempted to flee, injuring a witness who tried to stop him. Even after the girls returned home, the man allegedly continued to call and send threatening messages.
The regional department's investigation, however, paints a different picture. According to their version, the officer arrived at the home of his 22-year-old acquaintance at her personal request for "consultation." The woman and her 14-year-old friend voluntarily got into the car. At that moment, an 18-year-old man with a group of friends approached, provoked a conflict, and began insulting the officer while recording the incident.
The department emphasized that the video's author is not a relative of the minor, and his claims of rescuing the girls from a remote location were not confirmed. The investigation is ongoing, and full details are not disclosed due to the involvement of a minor. The department also warned of legal liability for spreading false information and attempting to discredit law enforcement officers.
