Starting May 1, public transport fares in Samarkand will increase, as approved during the 29th session of the Regional Council of People's Deputies on April 23. The new tariffs are designed to encourage electronic payments and gradually eliminate cash transactions.

Under the new rates, a single trip paid in cash (via QR-code ticket) will cost 4,000 soums, a rise of 1,000 soums from the current fare. However, passengers using transport or bank cards will continue to pay 2,000 soums, unchanged from the previous rate.

Authorities have also been tasked with ensuring public transport operates on all routes until 10:00 PM, while tourist routes will run 24 hours a day.

The Samarkand Regional Transport Department announced that cash payments for public transport will be completely abolished in the coming days. Residents are urged to switch to cashless methods in advance. Passengers can pay using transport or bank cards, mobile apps, or purchase tickets at infokiosks.

As a reminder, since April 15, 2025, the fare in Samarkand's public transport was 3,000 soums in cash and 2,000 soums via bank or ATTO transport card. The new tariffs take effect on May 1.
