According to Podrobno.uz, a criminal case has been launched against a prevention inspector in Chirchik. The officer is suspected of accepting a bribe to cover up an assault committed by members of a criminal group and to promise to drop the case.
The State Security Service (SSS) press service reported that in February, the inspector received $2,700 from the head of the criminal group. He had previously given $1,000 to the victim and was arrested during an operational operation while receiving an additional $300.
The investigation established that the crime was committed by a group of racketeers led by a 36-year-old ringleader against a 32-year-old citizen. The inspector has been charged under relevant articles of the Criminal Code.
Law enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate all circumstances. Measures are also being taken to bring the inspector's colleague, who was involved in this illegal act, to criminal responsibility.
Earlier, the capital's Main Internal Affairs Directorate commented on reports of an alleged beating of a disabled woman by prevention inspectors, stating that the information was false.
