A scandal has erupted in Bukhara over the unauthorized placement of a banner advertising an online casino on the walls of one of the city's most famous architectural landmarks — the Nodir Devonbegi Madrasah. The historical site is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed monument under state protection.

According to the Cultural Heritage Agency, the installation of the advertising structure was not coordinated with the agency. It was revealed that the event plan, approved by the deputy governor of Bukhara region, did not undergo mandatory approval from the relevant agency.

Moreover, the organizers ignored an official order to halt the work, issued on April 28. Despite the ban, the event was held, which inspectors recorded the following day.

Based on the collected materials, an administrative protocol was drawn up, and the case has been referred to court for further proceedings.

The Agency emphasized that placing such advertisements near ancient monuments shows disrespect for history and negatively affects the image of the country's cultural heritage. Furthermore, Uzbekistan's legislation prohibits advertising services related to the organization and conduct of gambling and risk-based games.
