An organized insurance fraud scheme has been uncovered in Uzbekistan, involving fabricated traffic accidents. According to a court verdict, three individuals systematically produced fake accident documents and collected insurance payouts.
The group was led by A.A., 30, who planned the staged accidents, forged notification forms and European accident reports, prepared documents, submitted them to insurance companies, and received payments. His accomplices, S.A., 21, and Z.Y., 24, participated in the staged crashes as victims or perpetrators, recruited others, and selected vehicles.
The scheme primarily used two Malibu cars (white and black). For instance, on January 15, 2024, a fake accident involving a Malibu and a Tracker resulted in a payout of 13.758 million soums. On February 21, 2024, another staged crash with a Malibu and a VAZ 31514 yielded 14 million soums.
Out of 14 planned episodes, the group successfully executed 8, defrauding insurance companies of approximately 110 million soums. The remaining 6 attempts were unsuccessful.
The defendants fully confessed. The court fined each of them 305 times the base calculation value (103.7 million soums) under Articles 168 (Fraud) and 228 (Forgery of Documents) of the Criminal Code.
The editorial board warns that even minor participation in staged accidents carries criminal liability. If you encounter such offers, immediately report them to the internal affairs authorities at 102.
