The first driver in Uzbekistan to accumulate 12 penalty points for traffic violations has been identified, and his case has been referred to court. This was reported by the Road Safety Service (YHXX).

According to the driver, he was unaware that he had accumulated 12.5 points over the year and initially doubted the existence of the 12-point system. After being summoned by the YHXX, he saw his points and became convinced of the system's operation. His case will now be reviewed in court, potentially leading to the revocation of his driver's license. He advised other drivers to follow traffic rules.

The YHXX reported that 11 drivers across the country have been assessed between 8 and 10 penalty points. Of these, five are from Tashkent city, three from Surkhandarya region, and one each from Namangan, Samarkand, and Tashkent regions.

It is recalled that since June 1, 2025, penalty points have been applied based on protocols issued by traffic patrol officers under 12 articles of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. Starting April 1, 2026, points will also be applied for four types of violations detected by automatic cameras: running a red light, violating stopping and parking rules, driving into oncoming traffic, and speeding.

When a driver accumulates 8 points, they receive an SMS warning. Exceeding 12 points results in the revocation of driving rights through a court procedure, and the driver must retrain at a driving school and pass exams to regain their license.
