In Surkhandarya region, a release of oil-containing mixture was recorded following a strong mudflow. The incident occurred this morning at around 06:30. Similar incidents have been reported in the region before.

According to preliminary data, the mudflow destroyed a protective ditch, leading to the release of the oil-containing mixture. A working group comprising officers from the Ecopolice of the Surkhandarya Regional Ecology Department and representatives of relevant services arrived at the scene promptly.

Currently, specialists are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident and are determining the extent of pollution and the causes of the accident. Additional information will be provided after the inspection is completed.

It is worth recalling that in April, an emergency release occurred at a well belonging to the joint venture Surxan Gas Chemical Operating Company. Compensation of over 8.5 billion soums was charged to those responsible.
