A man in the Uzbekistan district of Fergana region has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for murdering his wife and two-year-old daughter in front of other children. The motive was reportedly his unwillingness to pay alimony.

On November 3, 2025, while intoxicated, the man arrived at his mother-in-law's home, where his wife lived with their two children. The woman had previously filed a court claim for alimony, resulting in the man being arrested for 15 days.

After his release, he allegedly decided to eliminate the need to pay alimony. In front of other children, he stabbed his wife multiple times with a kitchen knife and then stabbed his two-year-old daughter.

The toddler died at the scene. The woman died on the way to the hospital.

The man fled but was later apprehended. The court found him guilty under Article 97, Part 2, clauses 'a', 'v', 'zh', 'i' of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 19 years in a general-regime penal colony.
