Uzbekistan has officially launched the Hajj 2026 season. On May 2, the first group of pilgrims departed from Tashkent International Airport to Saudi Arabia.
From May 2 to May 18, pilgrims will be flying to Medina from nine airports across Uzbekistan.
The farewell ceremony for the first group was attended by Muzaffar Komilov, head of the Department for Religious and Educational Affairs of the Presidential Administration; Sodikjon Tashbaev, chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs; and Nuriddin Kholiknazar, chairman of the Muslim Board and Mufti of Uzbekistan.
A Kun.uz correspondent congratulated the compatriots embarking on the sacred journey and conducted interviews with them.
“During the farewell, the mufti wished the pilgrims to perform the Hajj rites fully and without omission, offering blessed prayers to the Almighty for a safe journey and acceptance of their worship,” the religious authority reported.
In 2026, 15,000 pilgrims from Uzbekistan will perform Hajj. This year, the cost of Hajj per person is 77 million 73 thousand soms (approximately $6,400).
Eid al-Adha is expected to fall around May 26–27, 2026. After the holiday, pilgrims will complete the Hajj rituals and begin returning to Uzbekistan in the first week of June.
