A serious traffic accident occurred on May 5 at around 09:05 in the Nurota district of Navoi region. A 34-year-old female driver, identified as G.Q., lost control of her Daewoo Matiz while driving without proper documents, reportedly due to inexperience and distraction. The vehicle veered to the left side of the road and overturned.

According to the Traffic Safety Service (TSS), the driver died in hospital despite medical efforts. The 14 minor passengers inside the car were taken to hospital with various injuries.

Investigation revealed that the woman was the head of a private family-based preschool educational organization. The TSS statement noted that the parents of the children also showed negligence by allowing the illegal transportation of 14 children in a Matiz.

Reports from Kun.uz indicate that the woman and her husband had been driving without a license for years, regularly transporting children from home to the kindergarten and back under these unsafe conditions. Pre-trial investigative actions are currently underway.

This incident highlights a widespread problem in Uzbekistan: the routine violation of safety rules in transporting kindergarten children in small 4-7 seat vehicles. Similar cases have previously been recorded in Surkhandarya, Syrdarya, Namangan, and Bukhara regions, where up to 32 children were found being transported in a single minibus.
