A high-profile case involving mass food poisoning at kindergartens in the Tashkent region has moved to trial. Eleven managers and employees of supplier companies will face court proceedings, as their actions led to the hospitalization of dozens of children.
The incident occurred in September last year, when 62 children from preschools in five districts (Pskent, Buka, Bekabad, Kuyichirchik, and Akkurgan) were admitted to an infectious disease hospital. All victims' conditions have been stabilized, and their lives are no longer at risk.
Investigations determined that the cause was substandard products supplied by private companies. During the trial, 10 defendants are in custody, while one is under house arrest.
The criminal case has been initiated under articles of the Criminal Code related to the sale of goods that do not meet safety requirements and violations of sanitary norms.
