In Shavat district, a police officer from the Khorezm Regional Department of Internal Affairs, driving a Tracker while intoxicated, struck and killed a 29-year-old woman walking on the roadside with her husband. The driver fled the scene without providing assistance. The woman was taken to a hospital by a passing car but died from her injuries.
Court documents reveal that U.A., born in 1984, served as a senior inspector in the Crime Prevention Department. On September 27, 2025, around 22:14, while drunk, he hit pedestrian E.R., 29, on a roadside in Shavat district.
U.A. stopped near the scene after realizing he had hit someone but left without aiding the victim. The woman sustained severe injuries and later died in the hospital.
In court, U.A. partially admitted guilt, claiming he did not flee but went home to fetch money, instructing people in a Gentra car to take the woman to the hospital. Witnesses contradicted his account.
The Shavat District Court's verdict on February 23, 2026, found U.A. guilty under Part 2 of Article 266 (Violation of traffic safety rules) and Part 2 of Article 117 (Abandonment in danger) of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 3 years and 1 month in prison, with a 3-year driving ban, to be served in a colony-settlement.
