Asadbek Jumayev, head of the Uzbelas Performance tuning atelier known for a controversial online interview, has been detained for 10 days. The Supreme Court of Uzbekistan announced this decision.
The Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan reviewed Jumayev's video interview following an incident in Tashkent where a minor in a BMW M4 hit a traffic police officer, and filed a protest against an earlier ruling. On February 27, the criminal cases judicial panel of the Tashkent City Court reviewed the administrative case against Jumayev in cassation, overturning the first-instance court's fine imposition.
According to the court's ruling, Jumayev was sentenced to 10 days of administrative detention under Article 195−2 of the Administrative Responsibility Code (dissemination of photo and/or video recordings of law enforcement officers leading to their discredit).
In the interview, Jumayev stated that after a video showing traffic violations in a BMW emerged, investigators demanded he show camera footage, but he refused, leading to his detention and coercion by police officers. Later, in a video released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on February 27, he apologized publicly, acknowledging responsibility for spreading inaccurate information.
