Six education system employees in Ulugnor District have been held administratively liable for illegal gambling. The Baliqchi District Court issued a ruling on January 30, 2026, against the head of the Preschool and School Education Department of Ulugnor District, D.R., his former deputy T.U., and four former school principals (F.U., M.A., M.R., Sh.Y.). Four of them had previously faced administrative penalties.

According to court documents, on January 14, 2026, at 21:30, T.U. and five others participated in a gambling game at the "Abduxalil Ota" teahouse in Baliqchi District, betting 5,000 soums each and using 28 playing cards. An Interior Ministry officer detected the violation, seizing 205,000 soums from the table and a total of 617,000 soums from the participants, along with the cards as material evidence.

The violators did not admit guilt in court. T.U. stated they had gathered at the teahouse to celebrate Defender of the Homeland Day, played only a card game called "12", and the money was collected for food. The others supported his testimony.

Baliqchi District Interior Ministry officer A.Ermatov testified as a witness, saying he received operational information about the game, visited the teahouse, and recorded the process on video. He requested the court to take legal action against the violators.

Based on the evidence, the court found all guilty under Part 1 of Article 191 of the Administrative Responsibility Code (gambling). Each was fined 1,236,000 soums (three times the minimum wage).

Previously, it was reported that the principal of School No. 8 in Chortok District was dismissed after being caught gambling in his office with colleagues.
