The Main Internal Affairs Directorate of Tashkent has officially initiated a criminal investigation following numerous complaints from citizens regarding the operations of the construction company «Imarat Development». The investigative department is currently probing the case under Article 168 (Fraud) and Article 192-11 (Abuse of authority by officials in a non-commercial or other non-governmental organization) of the Criminal Code.
According to available reports, while the company's office is allegedly located in the Sergeli district of the capital, the residential complexes themselves are being constructed outside city limits in the Kuyi Chirchik district of the Tashkent region. This discrepancy, combined with significant delays in project delivery and previously identified construction violations, has sparked widespread public discontent and protests among property buyers.
Affected buyers have repeatedly demanded refunds for their invested capital, but the management allegedly failed to return the funds or withheld substantial percentages as penalties upon contract termination. The situation has further deteriorated due to internal feuds and public disputes among the company's founders, severely damaging client trust and leading to commercial restructuring.
Industry analysts point out that such recurring scandals highlight systemic vulnerabilities, noting that the mandatory escrow account mechanism designed to protect investors' funds has faced prolonged legislative delays. Law enforcement agencies have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine legal accountability.
