In the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan, a 22-year-old man has been convicted for operating a meeting place for dates in his relative's home for a fee. According to reports from the Millar program on Milliy TV channel, an open court session revealed that on January 20, 2023, around 8:50 PM, the defendant organized the venue for clients.

During an operational event, he was detained while receiving 200,000 Uzbek som. In court, the young man pleaded guilty and expressed remorse for his actions. The Zharkurgan District Court found him guilty under an article related to pandering or maintaining a brothel and sentenced him to one year of restricted freedom.

This incident comes amid broader concerns over human trafficking in Uzbekistan, highlighted by a recent case in Bukhara. There, a joint operation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Security Service, and Prosecutor's Office freed 23 women from sexual slavery. Law enforcement agencies dismantled a criminal group operating under the guise of a local nightclub, with the organizer having a prior conviction for hooliganism.
