In Tashkent’s Yakkasaroy district, two minors were caught driving a car at speeds around 130 km/h in a residential area, posing a serious risk to children playing and elderly residents, according to the Public Security Department of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). A video circulating online shows the children driving at high speed, while their father, Nozim Azizov, engaged in a confrontation with neighbors who tried to intervene.

On the evening of March 7, a neighbor approached Azizov’s home to discuss the situation and request that the children be disciplined. Instead, the father defended his sons, insulted a female neighbor, shouted loudly, and disturbed the peace. Witnesses called the police at number 102, and internal affairs officers arrived at the scene, took the parties to the station, and conducted an investigation.

In a court decision on March 8, citizen Nozim Azizov, born in 1981, was sentenced to 5 days of administrative detention under Article 183 of the Administrative Responsibility Code (Petty Hooliganism). Azizov claimed that his children took the keys without permission in November or December 2025 and promised not to give them keys until March 8, 2026. The vehicle driven by the minors was impounded.

The MIA emphasized that such incidents foster a sense of impunity among teenagers when adults turn a blind eye to violations or shield children from criticism. The ministry noted a recent increase in cases across Uzbekistan where minors drive cars and blatantly violate traffic rules, with some parents showing indifference to such offenses, but warned that these situations do not go unpunished.

Previous incidents were cited as examples: in Chilanzar district, a minor driving his father’s car fled from traffic police and collided with another vehicle while driving in the opposite lane. Additionally, in Tashkent, a teenager driving a BMW M4 struck and killed a road patrol inspector; the 16-year-old driver is suspected of intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm. The Road Patrol Service has recently identified 107 video materials related to road hooliganism, impounded 62 vehicles, and taken action against 5,919 cars for violations.
