Uzbekistan's internet space is set to become a zone of strict accountability, as deputies in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis have prepared a draft law for a second reading that introduces fines for swearing on social media, propaganda of war, and the popular practice among bloggers of 'hype' around their own illegal activities. The bill includes amendments aimed at strengthening legal order in the information environment, with refined norms based on proposals from deputies and relevant ministries.

The draft law establishes administrative liability for the use of profanity in telecommunications networks and the internet. Additionally, sanctions will apply to individuals who engage in offensive harassment and other actions that disrupt public order and the peace of citizens in the digital space.

Special attention in the new version is given to information security: the document introduces responsibility for disseminating materials that promote participation in military actions, a measure intended to curb war-related propaganda.

A key innovation will be penalties for publishing information in media and social networks about offenses committed by the author themselves. This norm is designed to prevent cases where users spread videos of their own unlawful acts to attract attention or increase followers. According to legislators, this will help prevent the popularization of law violations and enhance legal culture in the information sphere.

Developers of the document emphasize that adopting these norms will eliminate existing legal gaps and ensure protection for citizens from aggressive content. After approval in the second reading, the draft law is expected to be sent to the Senate for further consideration.
