According to a decree issued by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on March 25, 2024, starting from May 1, 2026, monthly "Car-Free Day" and "Car-Free Week" campaigns will be held on the 10th and 25th of each month. During these events, state civil servants are strictly prohibited from using official vehicles. If these dates fall on working days, drivers' salaries will be fully maintained.
The decree also stipulates that from August 1, 2026, under a trade-in program, individuals and legal entities who surrender outdated vehicles will receive compensation for part of the interest rate on auto loans for purchasing new vehicles. This measure aims to address environmental concerns and boost the automotive industry.
By the end of 2026, as part of the "Ecological Transport" system, the territory of Tashkent city will be divided into "red," "yellow," and "green" zones. These zones are designed to regulate traffic flow and improve air quality in the capital.
Additionally, starting from April 1, 2026, "green walls" will be established in the Surkhandarya and Syrdarya regions to prevent dust storms. This project seeks to enhance the ecological resilience of the area.
