Officers from the State Security Service (SSS) in Tashkent Region have halted the corrupt activities of a lawyer during an operational event. The defender allegedly promised a local resident to mitigate a court sentence by leveraging his connections within the judicial system in exchange for a bribe.

According to reports, the lawyer from a legal bureau extorted $10,000, guaranteeing that a court-imposed two-year prison sentence would be replaced with restricted freedom. The perpetrator was apprehended red-handed while receiving the funds, which were seized as material evidence.

Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against the lawyer, and investigative actions are underway. Security authorities are reminding citizens to report similar offenses via the SSS short number 1520, while ensuring full confidentiality.
