The Asian Wrestling Championships are underway in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. On the first competition day, the Uzbekistan national team secured gold, silver, and bronze medals.
The main event was the performance of Ikhtiyor Botirov. He won the gold medal in the weight category up to 55 kilograms. In the category up to 130 kilograms, Rafael Tsitsuashvili earned the silver medal, while in the weight up to 77 kilograms, Doniyorkhon Nokibov claimed the bronze medal.
Other team members also performed successfully. Alisher Ganiyev (up to 60 kilograms) advanced to the final and will compete for the gold medal. Abdumalik Aminov (up to 67 kilograms) and Shahzod Kuchkorov (up to 72 kilograms) will continue their fight for bronze medals in their respective categories.
Previously, the head coach of the national Greco-Roman wrestling team, Rustam Assakalov, was recognized as the best coach of the Asian continent by UWW Asia 2025. This title confirms the successful preparation of the national team.
