A delegation from the British University of Management in Tashkent (BMU) has signed a cooperation agreement with one of the world's most renowned scientific institutions — the Cavendish Laboratory.
The visit to the UK included negotiations with representatives of the University of Cambridge and the signing of an agreement to launch the BMU-Cavendish Development Initiative. The new partnership format aims to advance scientific research and academic exchange.
Founded in 1874, the Cavendish Laboratory is considered a leading global science center. Following modernization in 2025, it gained access to cutting-edge technologies and equipment. Fundamental research in experimental and theoretical physics, quantum physics, nanotechnology, and astrophysics is conducted there. Over the years, numerous Nobel laureates have worked at the laboratory.
Professor Mete Atature, who heads one of the laboratory's research divisions, participated in the signing ceremony. He expressed confidence that the agreement would serve as a foundation for large-scale, long-term collaboration.
During the visit, Uzbek students familiarized themselves with Cambridge's educational process and attended lectures by leading scientists in physics, chemistry, and renewable energy.
The partnership is expected to open new opportunities for student and faculty exchanges, joint scientific projects in artificial intelligence, healthcare, and sustainable development, as well as enhance overall scientific and educational potential.
Notably, at the World Education Forum in London, the Uzbek delegation signed a number of mutually beneficial agreements with various British universities and educational organizations, including a bilateral document between the Center for Digital Education Development and Cambridge.
