The Expert Council on Tax Disputes under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan reviewed cases totaling 168 billion soums in 2026. As a result, decisions worth 163.9 billion soums were made in favor of entrepreneurs, canceling unjustified tax assessments and financial sanctions.
Established by a presidential decree, this body specializes in pre-trial resolution of conflicts between businesses and tax authorities. Since the beginning of the year, the Council has examined six appeals. Following detailed analysis, experts recommended canceling tax assessments worth 133.5 billion soums and financial sanctions worth 30.4 billion soums. One case (0.1 billion soums) has been sent for further study.
A key feature of the Council's work is that its decisions are mandatory for consideration by tax, customs, and other state bodies. This creates an additional legal filter, allowing businesses to protect their interests without immediately entering lengthy court proceedings.
The Council includes not only government officials but also international experts and professional tax consultants. This composition ensures an individual and in-depth approach to each case. Entrepreneurs who consider fiscal authorities' decisions unlawful have the right to directly appeal to the Expert Council for a review.
