The US State Department will issue a limited series of passports featuring President Donald Trump's portrait to mark the 250th anniversary of the country's independence, Fox News reported.
The inner cover of the passport depicts Trump surrounded by the text of the US Declaration of Independence and the national flag, with the president's signature below. Another page shows the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration.
The new passports are part of the “America250” celebration program, which also includes a Grand Prix race near the National Mall and a UFC fight on the White House lawn. State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the passports “include security features that make the US passport the most secure document in the world.”
The document design has also been altered: the “United States of America” inscription on the cover is enlarged, and the back cover features a flag with the number “250.” The State Department clarified that the new passports will be available to “any US citizen who applies” but will only be issued by the passport agency in Washington.
According to Reuters, since returning to the White House in early 2025, the Trump administration has named a number of buildings in Washington, a new class of naval ships, a visa program for wealthy foreigners, a government website for prescription drugs, and federal savings accounts for children after him. This indicates the continuation of the practice of naming various state facilities and programs after the president.
