Uzbekistan is planning to significantly simplify the process of formalizing labor relations and enhance legal protection for workers. The prepared draft law aims to reduce bureaucratic barriers, digitize HR procedures, and introduce mechanisms to combat workplace violence.
At a recent session, deputies of the lower house of parliament adopted the document in its first reading. During discussions, it was noted that the list of documents required for employment will be substantially reduced: citizens will mainly need their personal identification number (PINFL).
The requirement to provide an extract from the electronic work record book will be abolished, while for those liable for military service, the requirement to present a military ID or registration certificate will remain.
The draft also equates the use of Face-ID and electronic digital signatures with the legal force of a handwritten signature. Additionally, the legislation enshrines measures to prevent harassment in the workplace and protect affected employees.
Another important innovation concerns payments: in case of delayed salary payments, the employer will be required to pay monetary compensation for each day of delay.
