During a presentation to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was announced that Uzbekistan's regions require 1,500 large and medium-capacity buses to upgrade public transport.
A comprehensive set of measures was proposed to stimulate the purchase of new rolling stock, including expanding financial opportunities for entrepreneurs and launching new credit lines. To support businesses, it is proposed to extend the exemption from recycling fees for bus imports for another two years.
The president emphasized that the transport system should cover not only large and densely populated cities but also regions with high tourism potential.
The head of state instructed the development of master plans to expand 'green transport' routes in Samarkand and Namangan, aiming to turn them into 'million-plus cities'.
A sharp increase in tourist flow to Khiva was noted—tripling in recent years—which has raised the burden on transport infrastructure. Therefore, the need to launch public transport development programs in Khiva, as well as in Shakhrisabz, Margilan, and Kokand, was highlighted.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that public transport directly affects the quality of life, environmental situation, and economic activity.
The president tasked strengthening efforts to expand routes, improve safety, and introduce digital solutions and artificial intelligence technologies in the sector.
