The Muslim Board of Uzbekistan has called on citizens to improve cemeteries and maintain them on a regular basis. The Council of Ulema noted that in some regions, burial grounds are left without proper care.

According to the Board, such an attitude can be regarded as indifference to the memory of the deceased. Cemeteries are not only burial places but also spaces that encourage reflection, remind of the transience of life, and contribute to spiritual purification.

"Cemeteries should be kept clean and tidy not only on certain days but constantly. We call on everyone to show dedication in this good deed," the statement said.

Citizens were offered to organize convenient paths between graves and plant basil and other fragrant plants on the territory.

Earlier in May, the Board reported that the first group of pilgrims had departed for Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj rituals in the 2026 season. The farewell ceremony for the compatriots took place on the grounds of the capital's Novza Mosque.
