On May 8, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited participants of World War II and labor front veterans, congratulating them on the holiday, according to the presidential press service.

The head of state spoke at the Main Military Clinical Hospital of the Armed Forces with Akmal Akramov, Vera Zhuravskaya, Hasanboy Khalmatov, and Vladimir Aleikov. He inquired about their well-being and health, particularly recognizing their difficult life path and displayed courage.

“You are living witnesses of history, symbols of resilience. Meetings with such respected people as you and your instructions give us great spiritual strength. Our people are rightly proud of you,” he said.

In accordance with the president's decision of April 16, war and labor veterans are being honored. They receive material and moral support, as well as preferential vouchers to the best sanatoriums in the republic for health recovery.

“The Creator has granted you a long life and the happiness of living in the care of the people as a reward for your patriotism and selfless work. Your prayers are peace for our country and blessing for our deeds,” the president noted.

At the meeting, veterans expressed gratitude to the head of state for reforms in restoring historical memory and honoring the elderly.

Earlier, Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Victory Park in Tashkent, where he participated in a memorial ceremony dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Appreciation. He laid a wreath at the “Hymn of Resilience” monument and also visited the “Devoted to the Nation” alley.

According to the Ministry of Defense, currently 60 war participants and equivalent veterans live in the republic. The majority reside in Tashkent city. It was reported that on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Appreciation, each of them will receive a one-time award of 30 million soums.
