A delegation from Uzbekistan's Karakalpakstan region has signed 13 trade agreements worth over $100 million with representatives of the Taliban movement.

According to Afghan media outlets controlled by the Taliban, the documents were signed in Kabul and cover a wide range of areas. These include the construction of a flour mill, flour supplies, as well as imports of cement, oil, and pasta products.

Afghanistan plans to export agricultural products to its partners, including apples, pomegranates, potatoes, and cumin.

The intensification of economic contacts comes amid deteriorating relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan and the closure of several border crossings, prompting the Afghan side to seek new trade routes and partners in Central Asia.

Previously, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed involving Afghanistan in regional cooperation on climate, ecology, and agriculture issues.
