The Department under the Prosecutor General's Office has uncovered a large-scale corruption scheme in the migration sector. According to the investigation, an organized criminal group collected between $7,000 and $12,000 per person in addition to official fees, totaling approximately $90 million.

It is worth noting that Kun.uz published a series of investigations in 2023 about the existence of a corruption scheme in the process of sending workers to South Korea. One of these reports revealed that in 2022, two out of four exams for deployment to Korea were conducted secretly, without public announcement.

Another article from the same year described how hundreds of people were rejected from exams under the false pretext of 'poor eyesight' simply because they did not pay a $12,000 bribe. It was later discovered that these diagnoses were fabricated.

A further Kun.uz investigation focused on suspicious activities at the Migration Agency captured on video. In a separate piece, Kun.uz called on law enforcement to investigate the corruption scheme related to labor migration to Korea.

However, at that time, no response was received from the relevant authorities. Moreover, the Migration Agency filed a complaint against Kun.uz with the Agency of Information and Mass Communications for the criticism.
