According to data from the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, courts across the republic handed down prison sentences to 11,703 individuals during January-June of this year, a 22.3% increase compared to the same period last year. In 2025, the figure stood at 9,570.

In the first six months, the highest number of prison sentences was recorded in Tashkent city with 2,030 people. It is followed by Fergana region (1,462) and Tashkent region (1,452). The lowest number was registered in Karakalpakstan with only 317 people.

During this period, only two individuals from Tashkent received life imprisonment sentences.

Among those convicted, 179 committed intentional murder, 1,376 caused intentional grievous or moderate bodily harm. Additionally, 1,789 were convicted of hooliganism, and 5,788 for drug-related crimes.

In the six months, nearly 3,605 people were convicted of corruption offenses. Of these, 779 were sentenced to imprisonment, 614 to fines, 1,479 to correctional labor, and 711 to restriction of liberty.
