On the sidelines of the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Turkistan, Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan held a meeting. The leaders discussed the development of bilateral relations and topical regional issues.
The heads of state emphasized the importance of further strengthening friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership. They noted the dynamic growth of mutual trade and the advancement of joint projects in industry, agriculture and water management.
Special attention was paid to the practical implementation of agreements at the highest level, including the acceleration of major regional projects in energy and transport connectivity. Among the priority areas is the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway.
The presidents also discussed expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges and exchanged views on current aspects of the regional agenda. At the end of the meeting, the sides approved a schedule of future high-level meetings.
Earlier, during a working visit to Kazakhstan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev together with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited a mosque in Turkistan built by the Uzbek side.
