President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has completed his working visit to the city of Turkistan and departed for Tashkent.

The leader's program was packed, including participation in the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). In his address, the president put forward a number of important initiatives aimed at expanding practical cooperation and strengthening ties among member states.

Apart from the business agenda, President Mirziyoyev, accompanied by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, visited a mosque built by the Uzbek side as a symbol of friendship between the two nations. Together with other delegation heads, he explored unique historical and cultural sites of Turkistan, one of the spiritual centers of the Turkic world.

On the sidelines of the summit, a series of bilateral talks took place. The Uzbek leader held separate meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. The discussions covered topical regional issues and prospects for strengthening interstate ties in the political and economic spheres.
