President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the opening ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Baku. The event is held under the auspices of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
According to the president's press service, at the Congress Center, the head of state was welcomed by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and UN-Habitat Executive Director Anacláudia Rossbach. The forum's theme is “Housing for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Communities.”
The agenda includes issues of urban development, affordable housing, urban environment, climate resilience, infrastructure, and housing finance. Mirziyoyev is scheduled to speak at the forum's leaders' summit.
Earlier, it was reported that the president's program in the Azerbaijani capital includes not only participation in plenary sessions but also a series of bilateral meetings and negotiations with heads of foreign delegations on the sidelines of the international summit.
