️ On May 16, a Centrum Air passenger jet operating a regular flight from Tashkent to Guangzhou was struck by lightning. To ensure safety, the damaged aircraft was immediately grounded and sent to a technical hangar.
️ According to the airline's press service, the electrical discharge hit the fuselage during the first leg of the round trip. Upon landing in China, the plane was removed from service for detailed system diagnostics and damage assessment.
️ To avoid risking passengers, the airline's management decided to quickly replace the damaged aircraft. However, preparing a reserve plane for the long-haul flight and coordinating a new schedule took considerable time. As a result, the round-trip flight C6511D/C6512D was delayed by nearly 48 hours.
️ During the forced waiting period at Guangzhou airport, all passengers were accommodated in a hotel and provided with free three meals a day.
️ According to the updated schedule, the reserve aircraft is set to operate the return flight C6512D from China on May 18 at 20:25 local time. Passengers are expected to arrive in Tashkent early Tuesday morning at 00:50 Tashkent time.
