The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has officially opened its representative office in Tashkent. EDB Chairman Nikolai Podguzov stated that the bank has begun full-fledged operations in the country after completing all procedures related to Uzbekistan's accession to the organization.

"Today we officially launch our activities because Uzbekistan has recently become the seventh member of the Eurasian Development Bank. Just a few months ago, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a corresponding decree. All procedures for implementing this decree have been completed," Podguzov said at the office opening ceremony in Tashkent.

He also thanked the country's leadership for their trust and emphasized that the EDB intends to actively expand its presence in the Uzbek market.

"I would like to assure everyone that the activities of the Eurasian Development Bank in Uzbekistan will become a very significant event, and in a short time we will take leading positions in non-sovereign financing in Uzbekistan," Podguzov noted.

In 2025, Uzbekistan officially became the seventh member state of the EDB. In terms of share in the bank's capital, the republic ranked third after Russia and Kazakhstan with 10%.

The Eurasian Development Bank was established by Russia and Kazakhstan in 2006. Later, Armenia, Tajikistan, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan joined the organization.
