A 30-year-old man in Tashkent posing as a middleman defrauded a 24-year-old phone reseller by promising to supply iPhone 16 Pro Max smartphones at a bargain price.

The victim paid $10,000 upfront for 17 devices, after which the alleged supplier disappeared and stopped answering calls.

A criminal case has been opened on fraud charges.

Law enforcement advises buying expensive electronics only from official stores or trusted sellers, and never paying in advance to strangers.

Earlier, Telegram channels appeared offering goods at below-market prices, claiming they were customs-confiscated items. In reality, these are scam operations where fraudsters impersonate customs officials.
