Starting September 1, Uzbekistan will implement a new system to support gifted youth in culture and arts. Winners of national competitions will receive prizes of up to 100 million soms, while winners of prestigious international contests can get up to 300 million soms.
The state will fully cover their expenses for participation in competitions and festivals. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced these measures during a meeting with cultural and art workers.
Mentors and teachers of talented young individuals may receive salary bonuses of up to 100%. The benefits will apply not only to state institutions but also to private creative groups and studios.
Annually, 100 young citizens will be sent to study at leading foreign cultural and art institutions at state expense. A fund called "Investments in Creativity" will be established to search for, develop, and promote talented youth, as well as support producers and creative initiatives.
The fund will receive 200 billion soms annually. The new measures are expected to create additional opportunities for developing youth's creative potential and enhance the competitiveness of Uzbek cultural and art figures abroad.
Earlier today, June 1, President Mirziyoyev awarded orders, medals, and honorary titles to workers in culture, arts, and literature at the International Congress Center in Tashkent.
