On June 4, starting at 12:41 PM, electricity supply was temporarily suspended in several areas of Tashkent. According to preliminary data from Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy, the outage was caused by a transformer malfunction at the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant (TTPP).

The disruption affected the Mirobod, Yunusobod, Mirzo Ulugbek, Shaykhontohur, Yashnobod, and Olmazor districts. The ministry reported that the fault was rectified by 1:01 PM, after which power supply began to be gradually restored. By 1:22 PM, electricity supply was fully restored.

According to residents' reports, in some areas, hot water was also unavailable alongside electricity, and in certain places, cold water was cut off as well. Traffic jams occurred at several intersections due to non-functioning traffic lights.

At 1:14 PM, a representative of Uzbekistan's National Electric Grids told Gazeta that the outage was short-term and not related to power shortages, fire, or any other serious accident. According to him, the protection system was triggered on two large transformers at TTPP.

He noted that the outages also affected some areas of the Tashkent region bordering the capital.

In the Tashkent Metro, the power outage impacted the Uzbekistan, Chilonzor, and Yunusobod lines. The metro administration stated that this affected the train schedule.

Photos and videos from metro stations show that lighting was partially working or not working, while trains continued to move. The metro reported that backup channels and generators were activated.
